Achar, S (2010) The paperclay TODAY conference and symposium, Laguna Beach 2010. Ceramics Technical, No. 31, Nov, 39-42.
Describes the Paperclay TODAY Conference and Symposium held in Laguna Beach in 2010, which brought together artists, researchers, and educators interested in paper clay technology. The event featured workshops, demonstrations, and presentations on the latest developments in paper clay techniques and their applications in various fields.
Acott-Fowler, L (2005) Creative Process of Paperclay, Sculptural Pursuit Magazine, Winter, 43-47
Advice on using steel as armature material and building a stable armature for sculptures using paper clay.. She explains that paperclay can be repaired when broken, and the paper fibers create a weave that holds the clay together as it shrinks, allowing for the use of metal armatures without the clay sagging or breaking.

Baker, W L (1998) Spraying paper-reinforced clay. Ceramic Monthly, 46 (9), 46-49
Describes a technique for creating sculptures by spraying layers of paper-reinforced clay over a foam core. The author describes the history of adding tempers to clay bodies to improve their properties and the process of using a nonpressurised sandblaster to spray the paper clay.
Bennett, J., (2019) Beginning Your Exploration of Fiber Clay, Studio Potter, US, 47,1, 62-65
An introduction to paper clay as a material composed of cellulose-based fibres and not just paper fibres, suggests calling this material as fiber clay to avoid confusion. The article also offers advice on using different fibers in the clay, such as newsprint, cotton, kenaf, and abaca, and provides suggestions for the quantity of fibers to add depending on the type of clay and the artist's intentions. .

Campbell-Allen, B (1997) Where there's smoke...paperclay in the Anagama, Pottery in Australia, 36 (1), 16-18
Describes the use of paper clay to produce cracking and loading problems when anagama firing large-scale work. Paperclay is a newer technology that enables an increase in the scale of work while being light and strong, and its green strength allows for easy transportation of raw pots to the anagama, eliminating the need for bisque firing. Also particularly useful in the firebox where pots are exposed to intense heat and may be hit stoking

Ellery, D (1995) Profile: Graham Hay - Sold on Paperclay. Pottery in Australia, 34, (1), 20-21
Western Australian artist Graham Hay uses paper clay to create intellectually and aesthetically stimulating works that comment on social issues. Metaphors for institutions, their processes and language appear in his sculptures.. Paper clay allows extended periods of spontaneous creative building. A variety of techniques and a more rapid firing schedule is emphasised for his delicate work, which exhibit the influence of his place and culture.
Ellery, D (1994) Making Clay while the Sun Shines.... Pyre: Clay & Glass Assoc.(W. Aust.) Journal, (2), 6-7
Summary of a paper clay workshop at the Perth Potter's Club by Graham Hay. Paper clay has become popular as it can be joined at any stage of the drying process allowing greater flexibility. His recipe and innovative surface treatments are described. Hay has developed a formidable body of work that are unmistakably unique, often defying gravity and growing rhythmically from a constructed base.

Farrow, C (1987) Paper/Clay, Artists Newsletter, United Kingdom, April, 20-1
Documents how a 1986 postgraduate student of ceramics at Goldsmiths College, Carol Farrow invented a method of firing a mixture of paper pulp and clay, enabled her to make and transport very large thin sheets of clay. While firing various types of paper, she had found that it contained a high percentage of china clay transformed in the kiln into an extremely fragile ceramic material. This inspired her to beat various papers using a glaze mixer, mixing them with clay slip and forming them into a new material; paper clay.
