Doctoral Thesis

ABSTRACT

Under the title of Paperclay Ceramic Bodies and Applications”, historical development of paperclay beginning from its early incarnation, throughout time is examined; and with chosen ceramic bodies and papers, forming of paperclay bodies and its usage in artistic forms is investigated.

In every period of time, changes in scientific and social culture influenced the artist and art, and these influences motivated the artist to search for different techniques. Ceramic bodies, because their structure is suitable for diversity, are widely used in industrial and artistic applications. Adding different ingredients into ceramic bodies, especially paper in artistic forms, is commonly used in different parts of the world.

In this research, paperclay ceramic bodies -whose chemical analysis and rational compositions and have different firing degrees will be explained in the thesis- will formed with paper and different ratios to introduce and encourage paperclay in our country.

To emphasize positive properties and fibers in inner structure of paperclay we made applications which are formed structurally, free from mass effect, flying and dispersing on air.
