Conference
The Paperclay TODAY Conference featured two of the pioneers in paperclay development and artistry, Rosette Gault (USA) and Graham Hay (NZ/AUS) from January 31 - February 4, 2010. The forty-plus participants, in this hands-on conference, came for two days of nonstop paperclay with each of these exciting artists as they learned the amazing qualities of paperclay in small and large, light-weight, hand-constructed ceramic pieces that can be sculpted and repaired in the leather-hard and hard state.

Symposium
The second event, Paperclay TODAY Artist Symposium, brought together for the first time in the United States, a collection of twenty, national (14 artists representing a dozen states) and international paperclay artists (six artists representing four countries) who shared their paperclay artistry and technical experiences in 90 minute workshops over two days, Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, 2010.

Exhibition
These twenty artists were also invited to bring with them examples of their work that were arranged by curator, Rolando Giovanini, of Milan, Italy in an exciting exhibit showcasing the unique characteristics of paperclay and outstanding artistry of the sculptors.

This website was first created to share information on paper clay, as it was not widely available.  This was before textbooks and when there were only a few scattered journal articles.  It grew into the documentation of art projects and listing of upcoming learning opportunities.   It is a symbolic “thank you” to the many thousands who participated in events I led, who shared so generously their techniques and personal stories.  This enriched both myself and ultimately my future students.  Ultimately it is a gift to the next generation of potters, artists and art students.  I hope it inspires you, informs you and provides an example of the sort of creative journey you have or are about to begin. Enjoy your travels!  Cheers! Graham
