First Class:

Once you have booked & paid online, you will receive email confirmation of payment, and a reminder of all details.

1. What happens in your first class?
You will receive plenty of assistance during your first lesson.

To ensure this happens, no more than one or two new students will join any class at the same time,

Small classes of ongoing students (average 6 students per class).

After a quick tour of the studio and an introduction to the other students and artists working in the studio,
we will discuss and jointly decide on a suitable starting point and technique.

This will be based upon your experience, or lack of experience, with clay, and your personal preferences and tastes.

This is a hands on class, so you will learn by doing.  So do BRING an old shirt and wear covered shoes.

During the first lesson, decide if you wish to continue with further lessons.

Pay during your first lesson/s for as many lessons you want to attend, and receive the Beginner Discount, as well as Bulk Discounts (see below).

2. Beginner Discount?
If you purchase further lessons during your first lesson, you receive an immediate 20% discount on any bundle of lessons in the table below (this will immediately save you between $99-357 depending upon your purchase).

The larger the bundle bought, the greater the discount.

For example: The fee for 10 lessons is $850 - $170 (beginner discount of 20% off $850) = $680 (i.e. a $19 savings on each lesson).   If unsure, please purchase fewer classes.

This initial discount only applies if a bundle of lessons is purchased during the first lesson.

3. Bulk Discount?
To enable students to purchase a variety of bundles of lessons, to suit their personal circumstances.

To give new students plenty of expert assistance, while recognising that long term students contribute to the studio and classes in many ways.

Once you are enrolled and have bought lessons during your first class, you may pause and resume your attendance at any time (due to health, holidays, travel, work, family etc) and change classes,

To avoid losing class credits, always text or email date changes before the lesson, and include a return date.  The class confirmation emails and reminder emails offer a quick easy and immediate hot-link way to do this.

New students are urged to read first "Try before you buy" (just above).

4. Common sense, rules
Classes bought in 2020 and 2021 will be honoured in 2022 and 2023.

Classes can be taken individually or in series, and can be started, paused and resumed at a time suitable to you:  provided you have let me know in advance via email or text (and to avoid the penalty, provide a return date).    You can also change which day and time you attend classes, and even attend more than one lesson per week, provided you have first check that there is space in the classes.

5. Courtesy Saves

If you can't attend any class, your lesson credit is only protected (ie "rolled over") if you
a) use the Change Class Date button in the reminder emails or text me before the lesson, AND
b) select / provide a specific "date of return to class".
c) do so at least 2 hours before the class starts

This enables me to keep track of a large floating student population, and prevent classes becoming too big or small.
To enable other students to fill your gap.

6. What happens if I just don’t turn up (and didn't rescheduled the class)?
If you do not do both things, your class balance will decline each week, until the date I hear from you.

When your balance reached zero, your shelve will be cleared (to make space for new students) and all clay recycled.

If you let me know of your returning date, via email/text, lessons can be repeatedly rolled over for up to 2 years.

7. Returning to classes after a prolonged absence?
please contact me well before to ensure a place is reserved for you.

8. But I'm going to be away for more than two months?
If you will text/email requesting I freeze your credit.
Don't forget to include a date when you will collect your clay and creations:
(to make space for new students, and to encourage you to keep making at home).
Upon your return a space will be again made available for you.

9. There's only one vacancy and there's two of us?
Buy any two beginner classes (before they disappear) and then let me know what you've done and provide a couple of dates that suit you both.

That way I can start you in the smaller class, so you will still receive plenty of assistance, without disadvantaging the other students.

10. Gift Vouchers
Must be used within 36 months of date of purchase**.

If you need any extension, please contact me  via email at least a month before expiry date.

No extensions will be approved after 18 months of date of purchase.

11. Want more information?
Free coffee/tea, use of clay tools, and parking.

$30 per bag of clay.

Credits are transferable but not generally refundable (this does not diminish your statutory rights).

Ask for a senior discount of 15 %, on Wednesday and Friday daytime classes only.

Check the FAQ page before emailing me your questions.

** In line with recent amendments in the Australian Consumer Law (ACL)  all vouchers sold on or after 1st November 2019.

This website was first created in July 2000 (latest update 26 March 2021) to freely share information on how to make and use paper clay.  This was well before textbooks, Youtube, with only a few International journal articles.  The website grew to documentation art projects and events.   It is a symbolic “thank you” to the many thousands who participated in events I led, who shared so generously their own discoveries and techniques.  This ultimately benefited my future students and is a gift to the next generation of potters, artists and students.  I hope it informs you, inspires you, informs you and provides a possible map for your creative journey. Enjoy your travels!  Cheers! Graham
