"An artist cannot simply produce any singular visual statement. They create a whole lifetime, committed to working with their eyes, their hands, continually scrutinising the breadth and depth of humanity and its confines." "My work deliberately appeals for self conscious human connection. A connection not only subject to immediate environment, but to our organic one." |
Christine Dyer ph 386 4754
"Fabric has many practicable usages. If the practicable usage of fabric is removed, it starts to show other aspects." "I am exploring the interaction of fibre and clay - the bonding nature of these materials." "The fabric becomes a symbol of strength and support; a framework which offers seclusion or freedom." |

T.C.Dip. T.T.C. B.Ec. Over the last year exhibited widely, winning four prizes and taught paperclay methods to various groups. Initiated and co-ordinated Thermal Shock I (1992) and II (1994). Forthcoming Exhibition: "Ways of the Seeing Places", Arts House Gallery (west of P.I.C.A.), James Street Mall, Northbridge, 16-22 July. "I use the object and medium as a metaphor for how I see social structures and their character." |
Dee Jaeger
"The natural environment and more recently the garden environment are the focus of my current work. As a highly contrived form of nature, gardens can be viewed as cultural and social objects." "My works attempt a playful and sometimes irreverent response to current perceptions in 'objects d' art' and 'follies' in our urban gardens." For more information phone Dee 444 8789. |
Bill Jeffrey
"My work as presented is experimental, I am endeavouring to combine clay and copper, two natural elements from the earth." "I hope that by exposing these elements to their master "fire" I will be able to present them as ceramic and bronze." "The creative theme with these works is considering the "inua", the indweller or spirit." |
Kim Lee
"Inspired by diverse culture and multi-racial society in Australia my work explores exciting cultures, observances, my background and personal experiences in unique forms." "I work with soft and sensuous clay specialising in sculptural ceramics, employ idea-oriented and semiotic approach to artworks to connote culture and tradition." |
Irene Poulton
"Ceramics has been an integral part of my life since I was first introduced to the medium in 1986." "The immediacy of contemporary Raku technique's has won my enthusiasm for the past few years." "I share this passion with Pit firing and its inherent unpredictable characteristics of colour." |
Alexis Stewart ph 454 7273
